Vincent Mabuyakhulu Conference Centre
Originally called Newtown Hotel named after King Edward VIII, the name was altered again in the middle 1980’s to the Digger’s Inn. The building was built in 1911 and was one of the first buildings to be erected in what is now the ‘buzzing arts and culture’ district in Johannesburg, the Newtown Cultural Precinct.
‘VMCC’ comprises of two adjoining buildings, renovated to accommodate both conference and accommodation events. The Conference Centre boasts multi-rooms ranging in size from 08 seats to 200 seats, along with 72 handsome en-suite rooms and 21 double rooms with communal bathrooms for visiting delegates. With two dining areas, we’ve obtained a three-star rating with further plans to build a gym and roof top braai area.
The building has retained its heritage, proudly taking its place in Newtown and ensuring that the history it hides in its walls is not forgotten but honored.
